Washington Breathes is a statewide coalition of organizations and individuals working to eliminate the harmful use of commercial tobacco and other nicotine products. Participation in Washington Breathes is open to all organizations and individuals who want to help advance our Vision and Mission. Please continue reading to learn more about joining us.
We welcome and will work to engage:
A healthier Washington, where commercial tobacco-related inequities are non-existent and where all people in our communities, across generations, are free from nicotine addiction, disease and premature death caused by commercial tobacco.
To bring together diverse partners from a variety of sectors to build capacity, collaborate, increase understanding, support cessation, and develop policy, systems, and environmental changes aimed at eliminating inequities and the negative effects from commercial tobacco use, sales and marketing.
Members are encouraged to participate in the coalition's meetings, work groups, education and outreach activities, and strategic planning. These meetings include our Commercial Tobacco Policy Change Learning Circles focused on current topics and policy challenges under debate at the state, federal, and local levels.
As a member of Washington Breathes, organizations and individuals will be able to choose whether to participate in specific activities or to endorse specific policy position statements that are developed by member-driven work groups and approved by the coalition’s Steering Committee.
Washington Breathes will work for policy, systems, and environmental change, but the coalition will not engage in lobbying actions or take positions on specific legislative proposals.
Coalition members are welcome to contribute in-kind or financial resources to advance the coalition’s work, but there is no financial obligation to join and participate.
